About This Place

Located in the heart of Rochester, NH, Windjammers Seafood Restaurant is a beloved destination for seafood lovers seeking a welcoming atmosphere and a menu brimming with fresh, satisfying flavors. Specializing in classic New England seafood alongside hearty American fare, Windjammers serves up a diverse array of dishes that promise to delight every palate.

From the moment you step inside, the inviting ambiance — infused with the easy camaraderie of locals and the warmth of attentive service — sets the stage for a memorable meal. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or enjoying a casual lunch, the vibrant energy paired with attentive servers like Barbara, who guests praise for their friendliness and promptness, makes dining here truly enjoyable.

Windjammers’ menu offers a showcase of seafood favorites and comforting classics. The fish and chips stand out with their perfect balance of crispiness and tender, flaky fish inside, delivering those satisfying, savory bites that seafood lovers crave. Chowders are a highlight, especially the clam chowder and fish chowder, brimming with fresh seafood and seasoned to taste, though some guests have noted a lighter, brothier style rather than the traditional creamy thickness. For starters, the fried mushrooms and potato skins have garnered rave reviews, with one diner calling the potato skins the best they’ve ever had — a generous, crispy, and flavorful indulgence that can easily double as a meal.

The menu also expands beyond seafood to include comforting options like chicken parmesan over spaghetti, French onion soup, and a wrap selection that includes a teriyaki option paired with golden fries. Their senior menu thoughtfully caters to those seeking smaller portions without compromising on quality, featuring favorites such as baked haddock, shrimp scampi, and classic blackened chicken Alfredo.

Beyond the mains, Windjammers excels with its desserts — the Mile High Peanut Butter Pie is a decadent treat that rounds out the meal with rich, creamy bliss. Meanwhile, combos like the Old Salt Seafood Combo offer a sampler’s dream, bringing together fried fish, clams, scallops, and fries, all complemented by tangy tartar sauce that elevates each bite.

Throughout numerous visits, guests have consistently praised the freshness and generous portions. The fried haddock, for instance, has been described as perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and moist within—a testament to the kitchen’s attention to detail. Even on busy nights with longer waits, the speedy delivery of hot, fresh plates and refilled drinks ensures a satisfying experience that’s well worth the anticipation.

Windjammers Seafood Restaurant stands out as more than just a place to eat; it’s a community hub where the spirit of the sea gets celebrated in every savory bite and warm smile. Whether you're sinking your teeth into succulent shrimp Alfredo or savoring a bowl of rich clam chowder, this Rochester gem offers a dining experience that keeps patrons returning again and again.

The service was quick and attentive, and the food was plentiful and delicious. I had the fish chowder and senior haddock nuggets with a baked potato. Although I prefer a thicker chowder and this was very thin, it was full of fish and tasty. The fried haddock was perfect, crispy outside and tender and moist inside. My wife had the turkey dinner; it was a large amount and delicious, as well.

First time here and we loved it. We celebrated our anniversary and it was the best choice for a fun weekend lunch! The potato skin appetizer was probably the best i have ever had anywhere. BLOWN away by them honestly. I could have just had that for lunch and been happy lol. The salmon was fantastic, and my husband had the chicken Alfredo. Very, very pleased with the entire experience!

Date nite! We enjoy trying different restaurants and this one gave us a really fun experience. The locals provide an ambiance that is rarely achieved. It's the seafood celebration Capitol of Rochester. Yes there was a line and the wait was a tad longer than average. It was well worth it. The food came out lighting fast, hot, fresh and delicious. The server was phenomenal, drinks refilled, condiments provided and just the right amount of attention .

First time for us. Busy place, longer than quoted but that happens on Saturday nights. 1/2 order fried mushrooms very generous portion. Teriyaki wrap with FF - good but salt those FF’s! Bk stuff haddock - generous portion, decent flavor. It’s not Petey’s but waa decent and brought 1/2 home. Asked if we wanted bread and it was brought out with no butter - very dry. Service a little slow when it came to getting boxes and cashing out. Biggest problem was the FRUIT FLIES dive-bombing our stuff. Time to do a deep cleaning and get an exterminator!! No creative adult beverage menu and what was there wasn’t priced

Great little place inland to get seafood at a reasonable price. Lots of great options. Fried foods are lightly breaded and tasty. Clam chowder was full of flavor. Fish portions were above average.

Nice restaurant. It makes me think cross over between old family restaurant with a seafood upgrade. I am not from the area and needed to find a place to try. The place was really busy for a Tuesday night, but that must be semi normal as the staff had it under control. The service was good. The food was good. The fries were cooked perfect but lacked a special touch. The clams were a little on the larger side. The place is only an upgrade away from 5 star as it would benefit from a drink menu and possibly menu upgrade. I do want to go back and try one of their home style meals as they have a great variety of different things to choose from.

This restaurant is cozy and pleasant. I went with my husband and another couple. I have not been here in 3 years. There is a senior menu that includes a small drink and a dessert. There are many items to choose from. I had the baked haddock with mashed potatoes and coleslaw from the senior menu. Hit tea and strawberry shortcake. It was all delicious. The people with me had fried haddock nuggets and american chop suey. Bread was also served. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and a two people had leftovers to take home. The service was excellent. I will return.
